What You’ll Do
Pre-Bid
- Analyze project documents (plans, specifications, addenda, correspondence).
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to gather project-specific information.
- Solicit and manage vendor/subcontractor pricing.
- Complete quantity surveys and assemble division estimates.
- Forecast labor, material, subcontract, and equipment costs.
- Coordinate clarifications with the bid sponsor.
- Participate in plan reviews, bid review meetings, and bid day preparations.
Bid Process
- Maintain and grow subcontractor/vendor database.
- Create comparison spreadsheets for subcontractor bids vs. self-performance.
- Support bid day submissions with accurate inputs and clarifications.
- Drive efforts to achieve Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation.
- Collect subcontractor prequalification data.
Post-Bid
- Transfer estimate information to project teams at hand-off meetings.
- Support project teams during start-up and value engineering discussions.
- Assist with major change orders and archive project data for future use.
- Visit ongoing projects to tie field experience back into estimating.
- Contribute to weekly estimating meetings and knowledge sharing.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent technical training/experience)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and proposals simultaneously
- Knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and construction methods
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and P&ID diagrams
- At least 18 years of age
- Legally eligible to work in the U.S.
- Able to pass a drug test
Desired Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of estimating, engineering, or related construction experience
- (an engineering degree may be considered in lieu of direct experience)
- Strong grasp of estimating techniques, cost control, and material pricing
- Experience with ProContractor by Viewpoint, AutoCAD, and Primavera preferred
- Experience evaluating subcontractor pricing, labor productivity, and equipment utilization
- Technical awareness of construction products, methods, and scheduling
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $75,000 – $125,000
